Poggio le Vignacce

Marciano della Chiana - Arezzo and Cortona

18 9 9 Private Pool
Poggio le Vignacce is an ideal retreat for large families or groups of friends who want to experience an authentic side of Tuscany. The villa sits in peaceful countryside and offers plenty of space indoors along with generous gardens that are perfect for relaxed days together.

The village of Marciano della Chiana is only a few minutes away by car or about twenty minutes on foot. It offers a small selection of restaurants, a grocery store and a bakery. Monte San Savino lies around nine kilometres further on and has a wider choice of shops and places to eat. The beautiful historic town of Arezzo is about thirty kilometres away and is known for its impressive churches, palaces and museums. It also hosts Italy’s oldest and largest antique market on the first Sunday of every month and the Saturday before. The towns of the Chianti region are easy to reach and Cortona, Siena, Florence and the UNESCO recognised Val d Orcia are just a few ideas for memorable day trips.

The holiday home and the small cottage are painted in a warm soft yellow. A large terrace runs along the back of the house with a long dining table under a pergola. Just opposite is an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven and a barbecue which makes it a wonderful place to enjoy meals together. The gardens are spacious and planted with cypress trees, mature trees and olive groves. Lavender and roses surround the cottage. The pool is set a short distance away and is fully fenced which brings extra peace of mind for families with young children.

Inside, the atmosphere is warm and distinctly Tuscan with terracotta floors wooden beamed ceilings and some areas where the natural stone structure remains visible. Frescoes discovered during recent renovation work offer a glimpse into the house’s past. Comfortable furnishings and soft pastel tones create a cosy homely ambiance. The separate cottage provides a private retreat for a couple who appreciate a little extra quiet.

Excellent booking process and support from To Tuscany throughout the whole experience. Villa worked well for our large family of 15. Comfortable and spacious rooms. New pool area. Lots of space around house and pool. Well equipped kitchen enabled us to cater easily for our large group along with large BBQ and pizza oven, though we never had time to try this. Paola was really responsive to a couple of minor issues that arose during our stay.Enjoyed a great meal at the end of the holiday in Lucignano which had a number of restaurants to choose from. We chose Lo Schicchero where they couldn't have been more accommodating. On the recommendation of a local, we had a great day out to San Gimignano. Had wonderful bakery selection from the local bakery on the Sunday, only for them to be closed for their holiday for the rest of our stay. Luckily came across the Menchetti bakery on the outskirts of Cesa which became a popular breakfast stop for the family.

To Tuscany team comments for this review:

Thank you for your lovely review of Poggio le Vignacce. It's wonderful to know that the property worked so well for your large family group, with plenty of space, comfortable rooms and a well-equipped kitchen. We hope to welcome you and your family back to Tuscany in the future, perhaps next time you'll get to try the pizza oven!
